Everyone who researches hiking the PCT knows of Trail Angel Donna Saufley. They have had their home open to PCT thru hikers for 17 years and it has been amazing 17 years. “Hiker Heaven” has closed this year. She said she is working to spread the workload over several people and nearby outposts. “I want Agua Dulce to be Hiker Heaven,” she said. To read more about the story please go to the PCT website

The PCT requires lots of trail love from volunteers to keep it maintained. It is such a breath of fresh-air to see people who adopt portions of the trail to keep it maintained for hikers. Several hikers were recently recognized for the work they do annually to keep this trail clear and open to all hiker. You can read the original article from the PCTA here. Who knows, maybe one day after I've thru-hike the PCT I will adopt a portion of the trail to maintain. (smile) 
It is so wonderful to see all the hard work PCT volunteers do annually to make this hike possible.The Mt. Hood Chapter volunteers maintain 217 miles of PCT between Midway Meadows south of Washington’s Goat Rocks Wilderness and Breitenbush Lake north of Oregon’s Mount Jefferson Wilderness. Their commitment to the PCT and it’s feeder trails is remarkable. Roberta’s email announcing the completion of “logout” – the annual clearing of fallen trees - arrived in our inbox this morning.
